Meet the Master Artisans
At the heart of Urban Ranch Kenya is a team of Master Artisans, full-time employees based at the Urban Ranch Studio in Nanyuki, who are considered among the best in the field of leather crafting - from beading onto leather, to cutting, to stitching. Every Urban Ranch piece passes through their hands, built on skills honed over years of practice and mentorship.
Our leather is worked using sustainably and responsibly sourced hides, tanned by a Kenyan tannery certified Gold by the Leather Working Group - the leading global body for environmental auditing of leather manufacturers. It's our way of ensuring the materials behind our craftsmanship meet internationally recognized environmental standards, not just our own word for it.

At Urban Ranch Kenya, we believe true craftsmanship should create opportunity - not just objects. Our work is rooted in three interconnected pillars: artisan livelihoods, rural outreach, and cultural craftsmanship.
Alongside our Studio team in Nanyuki, Urban Ranch Kenya runs an outreach programme with rural community beading groups across Kenya. These beading cooperatives, located 3-7 hours from Nanyuki, hand-produce the beadwork featured across our products and games, extending income opportunities and skilled work far beyond our Studio walls.
When our Master Artisans travel to visit these communities, they don't just deliver materials - they train and upskill, ensuring every bead sewn meets the same standard of quality as the leatherwork it accompanies. It's a relationship built on craft, not charity: skilled work, fairly paid, passed hand to hand.
Our mission is simple: to give rural Kenyan artisans lasting, dignified work, while producing goods of a quality that meets international market standards and appeals to a global audience.
